Some relationships do not need repairing. They need ending.

The Marriage to Hell Hex is an aggressive relationship destruction working intended to turn an existing bond into a source of tension, frustration and emotional unrest. Rather than gently encouraging two people to drift apart, it places sustained pressure upon the relationship until the connection begins to break down.

This may be chosen where a third party is interfering in your relationship, where somebody remains trapped in a damaging partnership or where an unwanted connection has continued despite previous attempts to separate the people involved.

This is not a subtle influence or an ordinary break-up spell. Its purpose is disruption, deterioration and eventual collapse.

The History Behind the Name

The idea of being “married to hell” is more than 400 years old. The expression appears in Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, written during the 1590s, when one character asks whether any man could be foolish enough to be “married to hell”.

The recognisable modern Marriage to Hell Hex appeared much later, around 2001, but it draws upon far older principles of sympathetic magick. Images are used as links to the people involved, nails direct the curse into the heart and mind, and black candles surround the connection from the four directions.

My working develops these foundations into a personally prepared three-day or seven-day ritual. It is not copied word for word from the modern published version. I adapt the petition, targeting and ritual structure around the actual relationship and the circumstances you give me.

What This Hex Is Intended to Do

The Marriage to Hell Hex is directed towards the foundations holding two people together.

Its purpose is to:

• Create tension, frustration and repeated arguments

• Turn small disagreements into larger points of conflict

• Bring buried problems and resentments to the surface

• Weaken affection, patience and emotional attachment

• Encourage withdrawal, avoidance and loss of interest

• Make the relationship feel oppressive rather than comforting

• Disrupt communication and mutual understanding

• Break the sense of unity between the two people

• Push the relationship towards separation and a final ending

The intention is not simply to cause one argument that is forgotten the following morning. The ritual is layered to keep pressure moving through the relationship, exposing existing cracks and making those cracks increasingly difficult to ignore.

How the Working Is Carried Out

I begin by preparing a focused petition containing the full names and dates of birth of both people. Their photographs are used as sympathetic links, allowing the ritual to be directed towards the relationship rather than released as a general request for separation.

Four black candles are prepared and placed around the working at the cardinal points. These surround the connection and direct destructive influence towards it from every side.

The traditional symbolism of the two nails is also retained. One is connected with the emotional bond and the love holding the relationship together. The other is directed towards the thoughts, perceptions and understanding between the couple. This allows the working to attack both the heart of the relationship and the state of mind that keeps it intact.

Black wax, destructive oils and other appropriate materials are layered over the photographs and petition while the hex is repeatedly directed towards tension, hostility, disconnection and collapse.

The ritual is carried out over several stages so that the pressure builds rather than creating one brief reaction that quickly disappears.

Three-Day or Seven-Day Working

The three-day Marriage to Hell Hex is suitable when the relationship is already unstable and needs a strong, concentrated push towards separation.

The seven-day working allows me to attack the connection more deeply. Each stage builds upon the previous night, placing sustained pressure upon the emotional bond, communication, attraction and willingness to remain together.

Where the couple have been together for many years, share a home or repeatedly reconcile after separating, I would generally recommend the seven-day option. If the relationship is relatively new or already close to breaking point, the three-day working may be enough.

When This Working May Be Used

This hex may be suitable when:

• A third party is interfering in your relationship

• An unwanted couple continues returning to one another

• A toxic relationship needs to reach a decisive ending

• Ordinary break-up work has not created enough movement

• The couple are already unhappy but remain together through habit

• You want the relationship itself attacked rather than one person simply encouraged to leave

• You require a forceful separation rather than a gentle drifting apart

This is considerably harsher than a normal break-up spell. If you only want two people to lose interest and go their separate ways quietly, another working may be more appropriate.
